Do You Know How to Use Email Marketing to Build Brand Awareness?

John R Ramos • Jun 11, 2021

I am sure you do know that building awareness for your business is important.

But how do you stand out and actually get the attention you need to reach new customers and generate new opportunities?

Building awareness means having a way to stay top-of-mind with existing clients, and being able to reach potential clients in the process.

Email marketing can help you communicate and share industry updates with your existing clients.   It can grow into one of your biggest assets for brand awareness.   People will talk about your business because somehow, they heard about your business, thru an email that was sent to one of their friends and so now it becomes word-of-mouth advertising. [Not a bad thing to have happened]

If you’ve been struggling to get the reach you’re looking for, email marketing can help.  Consider these four tips to help you get started:

1. Ask for permission

Growing an email list can take some time, but it’s better to collect email addresses the right way, rather than trying to take shortcuts.

Add people to your list that you have met and have an existing business relationship with you.   When you let people know what they’re going to receive — which can be information about events, industry news, and any product updates— people are very willing to sign up.

Getting permission has proven to be particularly important, following the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), which went into effect on July 1, 2014.  The legislation introduced new requirements for businesses to obtain consent before sending marketing messages.

Reach out to your audience to let them know that you are aware of it, and give them the option to update their subscription.   You may be surprised to see the number of people that may want to keep hearing from you.

2. Put your audience first

Audience

Asking permission will get people onto your list, but once they’ve signed up it’s your responsibility to provide something of value.

Provide the best value from the start with your audience and try to understand what they’re most interested in receiving.

It’s all about providing something that’s relevant to them and promotes engagement.

Use audience feedback to tweak their strategy and also incorporate video in your Email Marketing as a central part of their marketing strategy to humanize your business, show people behind the scenes.

Also consider sending an online survey to a segment your client base to learn more about what they’re interested in receiving.

3. Share your knowledge

You’ll get more people opening your emails when you shift your focus to providing content that’s interesting to your subscribers — which is a great first step towards email marketing success.

The next step is to understand what type of content would get people to take additional action.

If you are having an event, you can certainly send printed invitations but sometimes that may be difficult for people to share the events and invite other people.   With email, you have people who open and read your invitations but also share them with others. It’s a good sign when you are meeting new people at your events that you didn’t send an invitation to.  Email can play a big part in that.

4. Be consistent

Consistency is important — both in the look and feel of your messages, and in the frequency that you communicate with your audience.

Email templates make it easy to create professional-looking messages that can be customized to match your brand.

Plan out how to design your templates so that your image is always the same for brand awareness.  Your goal is to humanize your business, so each message that goes out will have a video or photos of your staff or clients.

It may take while before anyone is converted to a new client so consistency is key in building that relationship.

This eventually will result in new business opportunities, increased referrals, and greater brand awareness for your business.

Email Marketing can be the most effective tool for delivering your message.

In a recent post, I wrote about ten reasons a business needs an updated website. In this post, I would like to elaborate a little bit more as to why you should consider my suggestion(s). As an email marketing specialist and content writer for small to medium-sized businesses, I want to talk to you about something super important for your website: optimizing it for mobile devices. Nowadays, almost everyone uses their smartphones and tablets to browse the internet. That's why having a website that is mobile-friendly is so crucial. It provides a better user experience and can improve your search engine rankings, making it easier for potential customers to find your site. A responsive design is one way to ensure your website is mobile-friendly. . This means your site's layout and content automatically adjust to fit any device’s screen size. Pretty cool, right? Another way to optimize your site for mobile is by optimizing images. Large images can slow down your site's load time, which can be frustrating for mobile users. So, compress images and reduce their file size without sacrificing quality. Simplifying navigation is another crucial factor for mobile optimization. Use clear, concise labels for your menus, and make sure they're easy to access from any device. This can help mobile users find what they're looking for quickly and easily. Testing your website on multiple devices is also a good idea. This will help you identify any issues that must be addressed to ensure your site looks and functions nicely across all devices. Lastly, prioritize speed. Mobile users expect websites to load quickly, so minimizing the use of large images and videos, using browser caching, and compressing your code can all help reduce your site's load time. . So, there you have it! Optimizing your website for mobile devices is essential for providing a positive user experience, improving search engine rankings, and driving conversions and sales. As an email marketing specialist and content writer for small to medium-sized businesses, I encourage you to consider these tips and make sure your website is optimized for mobile. . Your competitors may have updated their websites, which can make your site look outdated in comparison. Updating your website can help to ensure that you stay competitive and that your business stays relevant in today's digital landscape.

How Email Marketing Works in 2021
By John R Ramos 26 May, 2021
If you’re like many of the business owners I talk to, social media marketing feels overwhelming. And it often feels like you’re spinning your wheels — doing a lot of activity across many channels with little to show for it. Don’t worry, you’re not alone, it’s a common frustration. Luckily, a lot of this frustration can be alleviated by busting a few common social media marketing myths when it comes to myths vs reality. Ultimately, social media should allow you to generate awareness, engagement, and action for your business that you wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. You should reserve your business name on the important social channels so you have it. But you don’t have to be active everywhere. That’s why we recommend starting with one channel that makes sense for your business. Ideally, choose a primary social channel based on the clients you’re trying to reach. Also, consider what channel you’re most comfortable using and how it fits with the personality of your business.
